Services

Own Your Birth Experience

The services offered below are tailored to meet your individual needs.

We can work in the privacy and comfort of your home if you are local, or over Zoom if you live further afield.

Have a read through to see which services and/or packages would best suit your needs.

Pregnancy | Birth Preparation

These meetings are designed for us to discuss everything and anything regarding your pregnancy and your birth. We will have the opportunity to:

  • focus on your needs and any concerns you may have.
  • review previous pregnancies, births and feeding experiences (if applicable)
  • review your pregnancy so far and any decisions already made.
  • discuss the details of the birth process and the stages of labour so that you feel confident enough to fully explore your options.
  • discuss informed decision making; why and how.
  • consider relaxation skills for pregnancy.
  • discuss birth pathways (induction, assisted birth, caesarean)
  • talk about pain management.
  • make birth and postnatal plans.
  • consider plans for labour and birth (positions, breathing, massage)
  • explore the role of the doula/birth partner.

Postpartum | Postnatal Support

In the postnatal/postpartum support meetings, I can support you with needs around your family, you and your baby. We can focus on:

  • Newborn behaviour, instincts and cues.
  • What babies need
  • What parents need
  • Postnatal mental and physical wellbeing
  • Baby care and feeding.

I will also offer:

  • The option of a post pregnancy Hijama and/or dry cupping massage with me, a certified and qualified Hijama Practitioner.
  • The option of Ruqyah Support, tailored to your needs by way of advice, self-ruqyah tips and affliction management.
  • A unique, self-care/self-love Sunnah Holistic Healing bundle of quality Natural & Organic products.

Loss

During this delicate time, while you may be feeling fragile, there is no pressure or obligation to be in touch. However, know that I am available, as a reassurance. Over the course of two sessions, spanning 2 – 4 weeks, you will have the opportunity to safely revisit the memory of your loss, or other troubling event surrounding it.

We can explore how you are thinking and feeling about that now and discover how you would like to feel about it.

I also offer a hijama/cupping massage session and with my holistic approach, a self-care/love Sunnah products care set for some nourishment and pampering.

Birth Support

Wherever possible and bar any unforeseen circumstances, I will:

  • attend your birthing experience or accompany you to the birthing place and support you in upholding your birth plan, wishes and needs.
  • make sure that your health care professionals are aware of your birth preferences.
  • provide non-judgemental support and be a ‘doer’, following your instructions and make sure that your voice is heard
  • offer practical and emotional support and suggestions for coping with labour and be a familiar and reassuring presence

After the birth of your baby I will support bonding and help to ensure that you are settled comfortably. Once you are settled, I will leave you in peace to enjoy your time with your new baby.

Birth Plan Support

We cover the birth plan/preferences in the antenatal meetings.

Your birthing experience is central to our time working together. Optimal health and wellness is achieved when you understand the potential demands of birth and labour and can remain autonomous. I will give you the tools to create a simple yet effective birth plan with your preferences outlined. In addition, we will discuss things to consider in order to support your family’s needs during the first few weeks after birth. A postpartum plan is just as important as a birth plan!

More Services

On Call Availability

From 38 weeks I will be exclusively available to you to discuss any concerns that you have or for general support ahead of labour. You may contact me via phone or email but phone is usually best for immediacy. During this time we will be in regular contact and I will be ready to come to you once labour has progressed.

Hijama Therapy

In addition and as part of the postpartum package, I also offer a Hijama Cupping session. During the session I will carry out a consultation and tailor my services to your unique needs. The session will entail cupping massage and/or dry cupping or wet cupping.

If you are unfamiliar with what Hijama and the benefits of hijama, head over to my blog for more information.

Breastfeeding

I have wealth of personal experience with breastfeeding and realise the difficulties and challenges around it. During our postpartum meetings, should you need any assistance, I will be able to offer you support and advice. I also offer one emergency breastfeeding visit within the first 10 days.

I also completed a Younique Postnatal Planning course with Sarah Tessier in February 2022.

I have taken part in workshops such as; Human Rights in Maternity with Birthrights.org and SANDS Bereavement Care Training Webinar: Supporting families through pregnancy loss and the death of a baby.

I am continuously developing my CPD in birthwork and aim to make my services accessible and reasonably affordable to my audience.

Furthermore, I am also an active volunteer and participant in my local MNVP, pioneering for improvements in maternity services, representing the Muslim community and pioneering for the reinstatement and sustainability of the Home Birth Services (which have been suspended since June/July 2021 in Derby UHDB).

I have a Podcast channel ‘Muslim Birthworld’, where I host a Podcast show ‘Muslim Birthwork‘, through which I share information and interviews around first-hand Muslim life experiences.
